Terms of Service
Last updated 23 August 2026
Ravenhook receives email sent to addresses under your namespace and lets you read it back over an authenticated API. It is built for automated testing. These terms describe what we provide, what we expect from you, and what happens when either side stops.
1. Who you are contracting with
Ravenhook is operated by Emanuel Hasbun ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the API you agree to these terms. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm you are authorised to do so.
2. What the service does
We accept inbound email addressed to your namespace, store it briefly, and return it through an HTTP API authenticated with your API key. Every address under your namespace works immediately — nothing is registered in advance.
Ravenhook never sends email. It is inbound only and cannot be used as a relay, a mailing list, or a mailbox for correspondence.
3. Your account and API key
Each account is allocated one namespace, permanently. Namespaces are never reused between accounts.
Your API key is shown once, at the moment it is issued. We store only a cryptographic digest of it and cannot recover the original. Anyone holding the API key can read every message in your namespace, so treat it as a credential: keep it out of source control, and ask us to revoke it if it is exposed. You are responsible for activity carried out with your API key.
4. Acceptable use
You may use Ravenhook to receive mail generated by systems you own or are authorised to test. You may not:
- direct mail intended for another person to your namespace, or use the service to intercept, read, or collect anyone else's correspondence;
- use it as a mailbox for real communication, for account signups unrelated to testing, or to evade a sender's own limits;
- publish an address under your namespace where members of the public may send mail to it;
- use the service to break the law, infringe rights, or circumvent another service's terms;
- attempt to reach namespaces other than your own, or to work around rate limits, quotas, or authentication.
We do not monitor message content routinely. We will act on credible reports of abuse.
5. Limits
The service currently applies these limits:
- Messages are deleted automatically within 24 hours of arrival.
- The most recent 500 messages per namespace are retained; older ones are removed as new mail arrives.
- Messages larger than 1 MB are rejected at the SMTP level.
- Attachment metadata is stored. Attachment contents are not.
- Inbound mail is limited to 300 messages a minute per namespace, and API requests to 3000 a minute. There is no monthly quota.
We may change these limits. If a change reduces what you can do, we will give you reasonable notice by email first.
6. Mail we receive is not verified
We do not verify that a message genuinely comes from the sender it claims. SPF, DKIM and DMARC are not checked on inbound mail. Treat message content as untrusted input — which, in a test suite, it is. HTML bodies are sanitised before we return them, but you should still render them in a sandbox if you render them at all.
7. Availability
We aim to keep the service running continuously and we monitor it, but we do not offer a service level agreement, and the service is provided as is. Do not build anything on Ravenhook where a delayed or missing message causes harm beyond a failing test.
8. Billing
New accounts begin with a 30 day free trial. A payment method is required to start it, nothing is charged during it, and cancelling before it ends means you are never charged. If you do not cancel, the subscription begins automatically at the end of the trial.
Subscriptions are $15 per month and are billed by Lemon Squeezy, who act as merchant of record and handle VAT and sales tax. Your payment details are handled by them; we never see or store card data.
You can cancel at any time. Cancelling stops future charges and your access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. Refunds are covered in our Refund Policy.
9. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that we reasonably believe is being used unlawfully, or where payment fails and is not resolved. Where the circumstances allow it, we will contact you first.
When a subscription ends, mail stops being accepted for your namespace and your API keys stop working. Stored messages expire on their normal schedule and are not retained.
10. Liability
To the extent the law permits, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or lost data, and our total liability in any twelve month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced by email to the address on your account before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the revised terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Costa Rica, and disputes will be heard by its courts, without affecting any rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country you live in.
